RACE DETAILS: We are honored to host the 2nd Annual Gib Wallace Memorial 10k Trail Run. Gib Wallace has been instrumental is designing, developing, constructing and maintaining our wonderful trails network and can be considered one of the “Fathers of Ogden Trails”. The money raised from this race will go back into the trail system through Weber Pathways and the Ogden Trail Network.
Course description: From the pavilion at Mt. Ogden park, runners will head south skirting the creek and then join a single track that turns into a double track. Follow this double track head south to the 36th street trail head and then turn left and head east up the single track until you reach the service road. After a very brief jog on the service road take a left onto the lower Loop Trail and run North to the 29th street trail head. The 29th street trail head will have an aid station for you to enjoy water and anything else we can find in the trunk of Aric’s car. From the 29th street trail head take a right onto the upper Loop trail and head south to Strong’s Canyon. Once you reach the Canyon power hike/run up the canyon until you reach the BST. Take a right on the BST and head south out of the Canyon. Just after exiting the Canyon look for the new connector trail heading west and down the mountain back into Strong’s Canyon. After descending into the Canyon, the trail joins up with a service road. Run this service road until you reach the short section of single track that takes you back to the 36th street trail head. From this trail head you will head back to Mt. Ogden park for the finish.
NOTE: Those registering after March 29th are not guaranteed a shirt.
Below is the tenative race route. The first thing you will notice is the distance is only 5.3 miles. Don’t worry, my Garmin battery died before i got back tot he finish line. The race still has around 6 miles and 1000 feet of climbing.
